I am the mother of twins, Elizabeth and Michael, born in 1996 as preemies and blind due to Retinopathy of Prematurity. We have been members of the MPVI family for nearly 20 years and have enjoyed the benefits of support and learning that it provides. I have served on the MPVI board as Secretary and as Member-at-large. In 2012, along with MPVI President Amy Shepherd, I was active in the effort to overturn the Governor’s decision to abolish the state agency for services to the blind in Michigan. I now serve on the Advisory Commission to the re-established agency which is known as the Bureau of Services for Blind Persons, (BSBP). Professionally, I am a former Special Education teacher and now Clinical Psychologist with a private practice in Grand Rapids.
