Jessica Dail

Hello, my name is Jessica Dail.

I’m twenty-one-years old, and have been visually impaired since birth. My visual impairment is due to Retinopathy of Prematurity, or ROP. I was born 4 months early, & weighed 1lb 2oz. I also had hydrocephalus (water on the brain.) It was due to this fluid that I had a shunt. I had 179 shunt revisions, & 55 eye surgeries to date. I live in Davison, MI; which is near Flint, with my amazing parents; Larry & Cindi. We have been involved with MPVI since I was 3.

I have been going to school since I was 6-months old. I attended elementary school at Durant-Tuuri Mott, which is in Flint, about 1 block from Hurley Hospital, which is where I was born. After my 6th grade graduation, I attended middle and high school in the Davison school district. On June 10, 2013; I graduated from Davison High School! Now, I take classes online through the Hadley school for the Blind; I have taken a course in Unified English Braille (UEB,) and I am currently taking a course in business communications.

I also own my own business! It’s called “Say It In Braille.” We offer items such as T-shirts, bags, backpacks, towels, blankets, & more with either Braille screen printing or embroidery.

I look forward to helping my amazing MPVI family plan fun skill-building activities for many years to come!
